Marine aviators who are captains now can collect up to $18,000 a year in Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP) by contracting to keep flying. Captains with 24 months or more to complete 13 years of commissioned service (YCS) can elect a “short-term contract” for the number of months needed to complete 13 YCS. Annual ACP for short-term contracts varies from $3,000 for Naval Flight Officers to $10,000 for fixed and rotary wing/tilt rotor pilots. Captains with 36 months or more to complete 16 YCS can opt for a “long-term contract.” The contract length will be for the number of months needed to complete 16 YSC. Long-term contracts will garner $7,000 annually for Naval Flight Officers and $18,000 per year for fixed wing and rotary wing/tilt rotor pilots. For details, see MarAdmin message 475/06.
