TRICARE, the military’s managed health-care agency, is reminding new retirees and service members who will retire soon to be aware of the changes in their coverage options.
“As a retiree, you’ll need to take action to enroll in a TRICARE plan if you want to continue to receive coverage for civilian care,” the agency said in an Aug. 28 press release.
Essentially, retirees who want to be covered either by TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Select must enroll within 90 days after their retirement date. Retirees also should be aware that their enrollment fees, copayments, cost shares and other expenses will be higher than they were during active duty.
The agency’s website, TRICARE.mil, has links to a plan finder, enrollment information (stateside only), regional contractors, and the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program that will begin next year.
