The 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), will deploy to Iraq from its base at Fort Campbell, Ky., later this summer, the Army announced Aug. 5. The 400 soldiers join some 1,300 others from the unit, who deployed in the spring. They will serve in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, with the mission of defeating Islamic State terrorist fighters in Iraq and Syria.
