All eligible and authorized TRICARE beneficiaries and Defense Department personnel can now get vaccinated for Covid-19 at DoD sites.
Those seeking the inoculation can make appointments at any Defense Department site where the vaccine is available. In most instances, appointments are advised. Online scheduling is available. While the vaccine itself is free, TRICARE advises that there may be some out-of-pocket costs associated with office visits with a provider. Beneficiaries should check with their TRICARE contractor for more details.
As of yesterday afternoon, we have administered over 2.62 million doses to those eligible within the department and at least another 440,000 doses have been administered to beneficiaries in the Tricare pharmacy and provider network,” said Army Lt. Gen. Ronald J. Place, director of the Defense Health Agency at a recent press briefing.
About 80 percent of DoD personnel and family members stationed overseas should be able to get the first shot by June 1, according to DoD.
It said it was monitoring an FDA review of the Pfizer vaccine for adolescents age 12 to 15 and is developing plans to roll that out for family member populations home and abroad.
