The Army needs to do a better job of screening soldiers to determine if they are too impaired for deployment in combat zones, the Government Accountability Office stated in a June 10 report. Regulations allow some soldiers with impairments to deploy. But in some cases, soldiers from Fort Drum, N.Y., and Forts Stewart and Benning in Georgia, never received the proper screening by a medical board before moving out with their units for tours of Iraq or Afghanistan.
