Women Show Little Interest in Infantry

Female service members are showing little interest in moving to infantry and armor slots, USA Today reported March 18. An Army spokesman told the newspaper that the service is “not expecting a high propensity for infantry or armor.” Likewise the Marine Corps stated that requests from women to transfer to the infantry have fallen short of the service’s 200 per year. Such jobs became open to women three years ago, with the stipulation that they meet the same requirements as their male comrades.
