Air Force Scraps Voice Response Benefits System

The Air Force will deactivate its interactive voice response system that had been developed to allow civilian employees to accomplish some benefits-related actions but never caught on with users.

"Low usage and high maintenance costs resulted in the decision to deactivate the system, but the benefits team is still available to help Airmen," said a statement from Kathryn Iapichino, a benefits and entitlements counselor at the Air Force Personnel Center.

Employees will still be able to conduct benefits-related transactions – including health insurance, life insurance, and Thrift Savings Plan elections – through the online Employee Benefits and Information System, according to the AFPC.
