The Army has updated its guidance on EEO and related policies to “reflect new federal directives, specific procedures for requesting reasonable accommodation, mandatory EEO training and EEO program alignment,” it said.
Directive AR 690-12, now also reflects the Army’s guidance and policy regarding diversity and thus has been retitled “Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity.” It incorporates the model EEO program required by the EEOC and Obama administration Executive Order 13583, “Establishing a Coordinated Government-wide Initiative to Promote Diversity and Inclusion in the Federal Workforce.”
Major changes include that it: establishes policy for mandatory EEO training; updates roles, responsibilities, and operational requirements; updates policy for the alignment of the EEO program in the command structure; establishes policy and guidance on office space, equipment, capability, and functional requirements for an EEO program office; establishes policy for providing EEO and diversity for deployed Army civilians; updates policy of a continuing diversity and inclusion program; and adds anti-harassment implementation procedures.
