CBP Launches Online Trade Violation Reporting System

Customs and Border Protection has announced that its Office of International Trade has developed a new online trade violation reporting system – eAllegations – to provide a means to confidentially report suspected trade violations to CBP.

The agency said it developed the tool to collect information on trade violations more easily – partly by providing a confidential avenue for members of the public. It added that the tool is not meant for assertions related to security or terrorism.

Violations that may be reported online through eAllegations include misclassification of merchandise, country of origin markings, health and safety violations, intellectual property rights violations, textile or other trade violations, CBP said.

As of June 17 an individual can report a violation through the CBP website, describing the type of trade violation, description of what has occurred, the products or goods involved and the alleged violator
