Nominations are being sought for the annual Department of Defense David O. Cooke Excellence in Public Administration Award, which is one of the more prestigious of the annual awards to federal civilian employees.
Cooke was a legend in the civil service who served more than 55 years, 45 of them with DoD, and who was known as the “Mayor of the Pentagon” for his understanding and management of the facility.
The award is open to non-managerial career civilian employees with between three and 10-years of civilian federal career service as of the end of this year. Nominees can be from any functional area and will be evaluated on their commitment to public service and demonstration of personal and professional integrity.
Commands and operating agencies have the needed information on nomination procedures and deadlines.
