Federal Manager's Daily Report

‘Encyclopedia of Ethical Failure’ Updated

The DoD Standards of Conduct Office has updated its “Encyclopedia of Ethical Failure,” which while presented tongue in cheek emphasizes how federal front-line and management employees commonly run afoul of ethics policies.

Cases it highlighted involving civilian DoD employees include: a credit card program manager obtaining and using credit cards using fake names of employees of the agency; an employee who made false statements regarding financial interests in a company whose services he promoted within the agency; a job applicant who did not disclose on a security clearance application that he had been fired during the prior five years by another employer; and false billings to an FEHB health plan for pharmaceutical and medical services not obtained.

It also cites cases involving uniformed military personnel.
