The DoD ethics office has updated its "Encyclopedia of Ethical Failures," a compilation of incidents ranging from the relatively trivial to far more important that serves as a kind of what-not-to-do guide to federal employees.
The latest version includes descriptions of incidents and the resulting consequences ranging from sleeping on the job—a three-day suspension was reduced to one day after the employee revealed that drowsiness was a potential side-effect of his prescribed medication—to running a side business in the office—the employee was reprimanded and the software program he had developed on government time was deemed to be government property—to bribery—for which employees were sent to prison.
