The General Accounting Office has issued a tool to help agencies determine if they are in compliance with the Federal Financial Management Improvement Act of 1996.
Its checklist (GAO-04-218G) for reviewing systems under the FFMIA reflects the Joint Financial Management Improvement Program’s Acquisition/Financial Systems Interface Requirements (JFMIP-SR-02-02, June 2002), addressing shared information requirements between federal financial, and federal acquisition management systems, GAO said.
It said the checklist covers procurements and has a separate section on micro-purchases, such as those made with a purchase card. While not required, the checklist is meant as a tool to be used by experienced staff in conjunction with the JFMIP requirements publication.
The checklist is available at http://www.gao.gov under “Other Publications” and the subheading “Accounting and Financial Management.” Copies of the JFMIP requirements document can be downloaded from the Internet at http://www.jfmip.gov
under “JFMIP Documents” and the subheading “System Requirements.”
