OPM is encouraging agencies to make available a new executive development training program titled Applying Executive Core Qualifications for Effective Enterprise Leadership in the Federal Government, designed for SES members and aspiring senior executives.
The aim of the one-day classroom type course is to provide a better understanding of executive core qualifications and how they should be applied in the workplace; those are the qualifications deemed to be a common and vital set of skills and behaviors for executives that cross agency lines. The course includes simulations and exercises in which participants have an opportunity to explore various leadership behaviors, make decisions that lead to specific scenario outcomes, and collaborate and network with other participants, said OPM.
The course is designed to be taught by agency training professionals but OPM itself will host a limited number of free sessions government-wide in coming months.
