OMB Goes Live with Performance.gov

OMB has announced the public launch of its performance.gov website after several false starts, adding a key piece to its performance improvement, accountability and transparency initiatives.

The site tracks the progress on the administration’s performance improvement efforts – and agency performance overall – and is intended to disseminate best practices across the government in order to drive learning and coordination.

Chief Performance Officer Jeffery Zients said recently in a post on the White House blog that performance.gov reflects eight areas of the administration’s Campaign to Cut Waste: acquisition, financial management, HR, technology, performance improvement, open government, sustainability, and customer service.

For each of these areas, the site provides access to management dashboards, data, and descriptions of best practices, noted Zients.

Agencies are beginning to use this data through new performance improvement offices to review programs and to find more effective and cheaper ways to improve programs, he noted.
