The Office of Management and Budget has announced that it
has begun an eGovernment analysis to identify opportunities
to reduce spending and increase efficiencies in the interest
of formulating the fiscal 2006 budget.
A task force consisting of interagency teams will examine
business and information technology data and best practices
for five lines of business: financial – led by the Department
of Energy and the Department of Labor, human resources – led
by the Office of Personnel Management; grants – led by the
Department of Education and the National Science Foundation;
health — led by Health and Human Services; and case
management systems — led by the Department of Justice.
OMB said these teams over the next six months would draft
and finalize common solutions and a target architecture
reflecting business cases for budget review.
