OPM Starts Exit Survey for Departing Senior Executives

OPM has announced it developed a government-wide exit survey to be administered to all departing members of the senior executive service.

The survey will capture information regarding the circumstances under which executives leave the federal government and offer an opportunity for executives to provide candid feedback about their work experience, allowing agencies to explore issues that impact retention and succession planning efforts, OPM said.

It said the web-based survey – the result of collaboration among OPM, the Senior Executives Association, the Partnership for Public Service, agency representatives, and current SES members – will be hosted by OPM, and that each agency will be provided a common link to distribute to their departing SES members.

Further, OPM plans to provide survey implementation guidance and an in-person exit interview protocol that agencies may use if they wish.
