The Office of Special Counsel has filed a complaint with the Merit Systems Protection Board requesting that an administrative officer with a VA medical center in Georgia be removed from her position for alleged politicking on the job.
OSC said an investigation found the employee sent over 30 emails from her work computer promoting one candidate or party and denigrating the opposition leading up the 2008 Presidential election. The employee’s official title and agency information were included in most of the emails.
The employee violated Hatch Act’s prohibitions against engaging in political activity while on duty and/or in a federal building, as well as the prohibition against use of one’s official title while participating in political activity, charged OSC.
