Recovery.gov, the website used to track spending under the Recovery Act, is moving to a cloud computing model whereby it relies on shared resources, White House CIO Vivek Kundra has announced.
Kundra stated on CIO.gov that the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board decided to move "Recovery.gov to the cloud," basically meaning that the site will rely on shared computing resources including networks, servers, storage and software delivered online rather than owning those assets outright.
The board expects savings of about $750,000 during its current budget cycle and more in the long-term partly by avoiding the need to purchase, configure and maintain redundant infrastructure, Kundra said.
