OMB has issued a status report on the government’s “digital transformation,” with outgoing federal CIO Clare Martorana saying in a related posting that agencies are on a path “that can progress from year to year and across administrations.”
“Now you can better know when you’re interacting with an official federal government website, quickly get answers to your top questions in a language you understand, access government services online regardless of ability, use government websites that work on mobile devices, and interact with government in a way that works best for you, whether online or in person,” she wrote.
The posting cited actions including (in its words):
* “Securing our digital future by supporting agencies as they implement modern cybersecurity practices such as zero trust while maintaining operational agility in the face of evolving cyber threats.
* “Reimagining partnerships by building on the efforts of those who came before us, learning from partners inside and outside of government, and welcoming international digital government leaders to The White House to build strong relationships with our allies.
* “Resourcing critical IT investments by providing a blueprint for cybersecurity funding priorities through joint OMB-Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) guidance, working with agency leaders to ensure the right IT investments are made at the right time, and helping agencies advance digital modernization by leveraging innovative funding models like the Technology Modernization Fund.
* “Inspiring public service in the digital age by showing technologists that working in government means being at the forefront of innovation across incredible and critical missions, demonstrating how technology can solve real-world problems, and recruiting from all over.
