Among supervisors responding to the Army survey, the highest
level of favorable responses came to the statements “my job
makes good use of my abilities” and “I find my work
challenging”–83 percent in both cases. Supervisors also gave
highly favorable responses to statements about feeling free
to go to their own supervisor with questions or problems
about work, their supervisor’s competence in handling the
technical parts of his or her job, and their supervisor’s
performance in giving the support the respondent needs to
do his or her job well and in taking a strong interest in
employees’ welfare.
Seventy-six percent agreed that “all in all, I am satisfied
with my job.”
Among non-supervisory employees, the highest level of
favorable responses came to the statements “I feel free to
go to my supervisor with questions or problems about my
work” and “my supervisor is competent in handling the
technical parts of his/her job”–74 percent in both cases.
Those respondents also gave highly favorable responses to
statements about the job making good use of their abilities,
its level of challenge, the level of support they get from
their supervisors and their supervisor’s interest in the
welfare of employees.

with my job.”
