VA Health Care Facilities Recognized for Leveraging IT

The Department of Veterans Affairs has announced its network of some 152 medical facilities was named to a list of "most wired" hospitals, put out by Hospitals & Health Networks.

The survey polled 1,713 hospitals and health systems earlier this year regarding their IT initiatives.

The list was assembled with partners including the American Hospital Association and is the result of a national survey ranking hospitals that are health IT in new and innovating ways.

VA noted examples including telehealth being used in veterans homes, improved access to critical patient medical information, deployment of asset tracking devices, and the use of technology to better link specialty care providers to primary care physicians in rural areas.
