White House Announces Presidential Rank Awards

President Bush has awarded 278 career senior executive and

senior level scientific and professional employees in 35

agencies with presidential rank awards for 2005 in

recognition of outstanding leadership, accomplishments and

service over an extended period.

The rank of Distinguished Executive or Senior Professional

was given to 55 of those recognized, carrying a cash value

of 35 percent of base pay over $35,000. The remaining 223

recipients are entitled to an award of 20 percent of basic

pay — over $20,000 – as part of being recognized as

Meritorious Executive. All get a certificate signed by the

president to put on the wall.

“These awards present a much-deserved opportunity to recognize

those who have made significant progress in advancing the PMA

while producing results for the American people,” said Office

of Personnel Management Director Linda M. Springer.

OPM administers the program. The rank of Distinguished
