DISA Issues Mobility Guidance for Andriod / Samsung

The Defense Information Systems Agency hasreleased version 2.0of its Android/Samsung Knox capability under the DoD Mobility Unclassified Capability to mission partners for connecting those devices to DoD networks.

It said the Samsung Knox container supports access to Defense Enterprise Email, synched calendar and contacts in an”official use only” environment, and that mission partners are now authorized to use the Android operating system 4.4 on the Samsung Galaxy S4, leveraging the enterprise Mobile Device Management system or DoD Mobility Application Store (currently featuring just 19 apps).

Enabled features for Android include secure Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, Native Browser, Contacts, and device encryption. Link: http://www.disa.mil/Services/Enterprise-Services/Mobility
