The Government Printing Office has announced it is moving its email to the cloud using Microsoft Office 365 in a bid to simplify IT infrastructure, gain greater functionality, and enable faster upgrades for future enhancements. GPO, the first legislative branch agency to move its email to the cloud, says it will complete the migration by January 2015, and that it hopes to benefit from better email archiving, anti-spam, malware, collaboration and online meeting tools.
Telehealth Helping VA Serve Rural Veterans
The VA has announced that its national telehealth programs served more than 690,000 veterans during fiscal 2014 – about 12 percent of the overall veteran population enrolled for VA healthcare – for a total of about 2 million sessions.
About 55 percent of those “visits” were with veterans living in rural areas with limited access to VA healthcare, the department said.
“A brick-and-mortar facility is not the only option for health care,” said VA secretary Robert McDonald, adding, “We are exploring how we can more efficiently and effectively deliver health care services to better serve our veterans and improve their lives.”
The department said it offers over 44 clinical specialties through its telehealth programs and it plans to grow its capabilities – including with TeleAudiologyto serve a large population (over 10,000) of veterans living with hearing loss.
