GSA has acknowledged what most procurement officials, contracting officer representatives, contractors, GSA personnel and others are already too familiar with – confusion over the government’s 33 contract vehicles and related requirements and approval processes – GSA is working to add some clarity with a new procurement tool.
The agency’s Office of Integrated Technology Services has launched an online tool for federal, state and local governments to navigate ways to purchase IT from GSA: The IT Solutions Navigator, designed to help agencies match customer requirements with GSA’s best contract vehicles.
"We’ve heard how difficult it is to find the optimal contract vehicles to meet their requirements. In response to these challenges, we developed the IT Solutions Navigator tool," said OITS assistant commissioner, Mary Davie.
The navigator accepts requirements, suggests a contract vehicle, and then provides a point of contact. A live chat feature is a big plus as well as you can talk to a human to get some direction and answers, according to GSA.
GSA says it also will help government-contracting officers and procurement teams conduct pre-acquisition market research on IT products and services as well as find acquisition vehicles.
