GSA Closed 37 Data Centers in 2013

GSA has announced it closed 37 non-core data centers in the past fiscal year as part of an OMB government-wide effort, in addition to consolidating IT operations.

GSA said all IT office and staff within GSA are now consolidated under the leadership of CIO Casey Coleman, rather than having several CIOs serving each individual business line, or having IT staff reporting into a different program office.

Those resources will now be located in a new GSA IT office led by the GSA CIO, something theagency says will improve access to technology services. IT contracts will also all be handled through the central GSA IT office.
