Solar Panels Going Back on the White House

Solar panels are to be installed on the White House as part of an energy retrofit for the building. Panels had been installed under President Jimmy Carter, and then removed when President Ronald Regan took up residence. In 2010, Obama pledged to re-install them but those plans may have been delayed when solar power company Solyndra was in the news cycle for going bankrupt after burning through heavy federal investment. Solar power was installed on the White House grounds under another president however. George W. Bush put in place a nine-kilowatt photovoltaic system in 2003 that has been used to heat water on premises.
