Air Traffic Controller Retirement

An item in last week’s issue about a General Accounting Office report warning of an impending retirement wave of air traffic controllers should have specified that controllers are entitled to optional retirement at age 50 with 20 years a controller or any age with 25 years as a controller. A reader points out that this provision will make the retirement wave an even larger problem than the GAO report suggested.
