DoD Adds More Details on NSPS

The Defense Department has released additional details on how it plans for its new national security personnel system to function in the areas of job classification and pay for performance. In the “standard” career group-which will cover about two-thirds of affected employees-it plans three categories: professional/analytical, technician/support and supervisor/manager, each with three pay bands. The scientific and engineering category would have three groupings-professional (three bands), technician/support (four) and supervisor/manager (three). The medical category would have four groupings– physician/dentist (one band), professional (three), technician/support (three) and supervisor/manager (three). The protective services category would have four groupings-investigative (three bands), fire protection (four), police/security guard (two) and supervisor/manager (three).
