OPM said that 61 percent of employees who telework do so at least one day a week, up 9 percentage points from 2006, while the percentage of those who telework at least monthly but less than once a week fell by an equal percentage. The percentage of teleworkers who do so three or more days a week held steady at 13 percent. Also, the number of agencies that have incorporated telework into their emergency planning rose from 42 to 60 percent. However, the report said that agencies differ in how they track telework, making the data somewhat unreliable, and that there remain wide variances among and even within agencies on who provides the necessary equipment. Overall, the worker provided the equipment in 41 percent of the cases, the agency provided it in 35 percent and in the rest there were sharing or other arrangements. Most agencies have not set specific goals for telework nor do most measure the benefits of their programs, OPM added.
