Lobbying Already Under Way

Meanwhile, a group of House members interested in the operations of military depots—in many cases, because their districts include such facilities—has written to the Defense Department making the case that depots should not be included on any closings list. They argued that the department needs the capability to meet surges in workloads due to military operations. Certain members of Congress also have been meeting with DoD officials to argue for keeping the facilities based in their districts off the list.
