New Per Diem Rates Announced

GSA has announced new per diem rates for federal travelers effective October 1, with increases in lodging rates in many cities ranging from a few dollars a day to $20 or more—although there also were some decreases—and an increase in the standard lodging rate for destinations without their own specific rates from $77 to $83 a day. The standard meals and incidentals expense amount will remain $46 a day; that component will continue to range from $46 to $71 for destinations with their own lodging rates. Nearly 30 destinations that used to have specific rates are now part of the standard rate, while several have been combined, several split apart and several added, leaving the total number of destinations with their own rates at around 400. The highest daily rate will be $303 in the New York City area in September-December. Other notably high lodging rates include Vail, Colo., $297 in December-March; Nantucket, Mass., $267 in June-September; Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., $264 in July-August; Aspen, Colo., $247 in December-March; and Key West, Fla., $246 in February-April. Daily rates also will exceed $200 at certain times of the year in destinations including Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
