Not Quite Day Trading

One of the features of the new system of most interest to a small but vocal minority of TSP participants is the switch to daily valuation of accounts. Accounts will be shown in share prices and numbers of shares owned, much like mutual fund listings. The delay in making interfund transfers-up to six weeks, depending on when the request is made-under the present monthly valuation system long has been a sore point for some participants. While the new daily valuation system will be much faster, it doesn’t promise that transactions will be processed every business day, as most mutual funds do. Instead, it promises that interfund transfer requests normally will be processed within two business days.
