One New Mileage Rate Released, Others Still Pending

The General Services Administration has raised the mileage reimbursement rate for federal travelers

for calendar year 2005 to 40.5 cents per mile, up by three cents per mile from the 2004 rate. The GSA

as usual followed the lead of the IRS, which earlier announced that a 40.5 cents per mile rate will

apply for tax deduction purposes in 2005. GSA has not yet released certain other mileage rates, such

as reimbursement for travel by motorcycle or private airplane.
