Among bills recently introduced in Congress are: S-2600, by Sen. John Warner, R-Va., which would allow agencies other than DoD and State to pay allowances and other benefits comparable to those payable to employees of those two departments for employees who serve in Iraq and Afghanistan; and HR-5148, by Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., to give six weeks of paid parental leave for federal employees after the birth or adoption of a child.
