Other Policies Also Changing

OPM said that the law makes several other benefits policy changes including extending the authority of agency heads to waive the premium pay limitations in calendar year 2008 for certain employees who perform work in an overseas location that is in the area of responsibility of the commander of the United States Central Command; OPM said it encourages agencies to use the authority under policies similar to what the State and Defense departments use. The law also makes wage grade employees eligible to be paid for hours of work for return travel from an administratively uncontrollable event and to receive compensatory time off for official travel done on their own time, similar to what GS employees get.
