The House federal workforce subcommittee has approved a measure (HR-4859) to set certain standards for electronic health records for people covered by FEHB, requiring that carriers make those records available to them. It also would bar carriers from increasing premiums in order to comply with those requirements but establishes a trust fund to award grants to carriers who meet standards for carrying out provider-based electronic health records. Similar legislation (S-3846) was recently introduced in the Senate.
