Postmasters Plan May Be Dropped from FEHB

The Office of Personnel Management has said it is considering withdrawing approval of the Postmasters Benefit Plan for participation in the Federal Employees Health Benefits program effective in January, an announcement made just as the annual FEHB open season was wrapping up (it ended Monday) that roiled both the plan and its participants. OPM cited financial considerations for its concern; plan officials have said the plan is financially sound and that they will seek a hearing. Should OPM make a final decision to drop the plan, enrollees will be given an opportunity to select a new plan.
