The House has passed HR-1089, which would amend the procedures for federal employees to follow when they believe their job restoration rights have been violated after returning from active military duty. Currently, employees who believe that their agencies have not complied with the law or OPM regulations may file a complaint with the Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment Training Service. If VETS cannot resolve a claim, the case may then be referred to the Office of Special Counsel. The measure would have all claims by federal employees filed directly with OSC.
