Senate Seeks to Aid Acquisition Workforce

The Senate has passed a contracting reform act (S-680) that seeks to help federal agencies recruit, retain, and develop an adequate acquisition workforce by creating an acquisition internship program, promoting contracting careers, requiring human capital succession plans by chief acquisition officers, boosting funds available for training acquisition workers, and creating a new senior executive level position at OMB to manage the initiative. The House has passed a generally similar bill and the two may be combined.
