Stock Funds Hit Hard

All three stock-based Thrift Savings Plan suffered significant losses in July, with the largest of the three, the common stock (C) fund down 7.7 percent for a 12-month loss of 23.63 percent. The international stock (I) fund lost 9.99 percent for a 12-month loss of 17.1 percent while the small and mid-sized U.S. company stock (S) fund fell 9.93 percent for a 17.34 percent 12-month loss. The bond (F) fund gained 1.19 percent for a 7.72 percent 12-month gain, while the government securities (G) fund gained 0.43 percent for a 5.27 percent 12-month gain.
