111 Airmen Selected as Astronaut Candidates

The Air Force announced the selection of 110 officers and one non-commissioned officer for the 2012 NASA Astronaut Candidate Program. They will compete with civilian candidates, and applicants from the other armed services, for positions. Successful candidates will take part in a yearlong candidacy program at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Texas. Those who complete that phase successfully will serve a five-year tour with NASA. Finalists will be named in December, and begin the program next August.
