AAFES Gives Hurricane Victims Financial Breaks

Army and Air Force Exchange Service officials announced they are waiving interest charges and suspending monthly payment requirements for exchange credit program cardholders displaced by Hurricane Katrina. “According to our records, there are approximately 15,000 accounts impacted in undeliverable zip codes,” said Grant Morris AAFES treasurer. No interest will be charged and no payments will be due for a period of time not yet determined. The interest rate and payment exclusion also will apply for an extended time period to new purchases. AAFES determined eligibility by matching accounts to the U.S. Postal Service’s listing of affected ZIP codes. Exchange credit program cardholders displaced by Hurricane Katrina can update their contact information at the nearest exchange, or by calling (877) 991-7827, or visiting www.aafes.com. Affected areas in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi include:

Meridian, Miss. ZIP codes 369XX to 393XX.

Hattiesburg, Miss. ZIP codes 394XX.
