The Air Force has taken steps to help airmen better prepare for 365-day deployments. Among the changes:
* Airmen can no longer expect to have less than 60 days’ notification before such deployments;
* "Accept or decline" notification times have been reduced to three calendar days, which will provide more time to notify the next airman in line for deployment;
* The verification process will identify the most eligible airmen for deployment from an Air Force-wide pool, rather than within individual commands, and;
* Medical pre-assessments will enable the Air Force to find other airmen to deploy in the place of those deemed unfit for combat.
