AF Opens VSP Window

Certain Air Force officers in nine specialties who wish to separate from the service by Sept. 30 may apply for voluntary separation pay (VSP) until June 30. The VSP window, which is open to majors and below, may remain so if the service does not reach its authorized strength level. Those who opt for VSP will receive a lump-sum payment equal to twice the involuntary separation pay rate. Some officers who do not accept the offer may face a less attractive deal. If a reduction in force (RIF) board selects them for separation, they would receive standard involuntary separation pay.
