AF To RIF Fewer Officers

Air Force officers in more year groups will be able to avoid the service’s 2011 reduction-in-force board. The exemptions include the chaplain and medical service corps, and judge advocate generals in year groups 1999 and 2000. The RIF board will still consider line captains in years 2000, and 2003 through 2005, line majors in year 2000, judge advocate general majors in years 2001 through 2003, and biomedical service corps majors in years 2000 and 2001. The Air Force plans to review the records of some 9,000 officers, and retain at least 95 percent of those in the year groups and competitive categories.
