A Fort Hood, Texas-based non-commissioned officer assigned to help victims of sexual harassment and assault is under investigation for allegedly committing the crimes he is supposed to help prevent. In an official statement issued May 14, the Army identified the soldier only as a "sergeant first class assigned to III Corps," who works as Equal Opportunity Advisor and Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention program coordinator at Fort Hood. The soldier has been relieved of his duties pending the Army Criminal Investigation Command investigation into the allegations. Pentagon leaders and lawmakers alike reacted strongly to the allegation. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel called for a thorough review of sexual assault-prevention procedures. House Armed Services Committee Chairman Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon, R-Calif., said he was "outraged and disgusted" by the incident.
