Army Gears Ads Toward Officer Recruitment

The Army has launched a new advertising campaign, geared at encouraging more young men and women to pursue careers as officers. The campaign will feature interviews with real Army officers – not actors – who describe how their service has enabled them to grow mentally, physically, and emotionally. "We are emphasizing the fact that Army officership is a path to lifelong success," says Lt. Gen. Benjamin C. Freakley, the commander of Army Accessions Command. The ads direct interested viewers to a related Web site, www.goarmy.com/officer, which in turn provides information about seeking commissions through the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., Officer Candidate School, ROTC, or direct commission.
