The Army nearing a decision on a new camouflage design for versions of its Army Combat Uniform (ACU). The service has selected five vendors to develop prospective different camouflage patterns, with some suitable for woodland operations, and others for so-called “transitional” environments. The vendors also will develop a single pattern that could work with each other pattern. It would be used on organizational clothing and individual equipment that soldiers must wear in addition to their regular uniforms. Final patterns will be selected once all of the patterns undergo real-world and computer testing. Testers intend to present their findings to Army leadership in October.
